The 2014 GMRI Citizen Science Challenge is here!

The GMRI education team has launched a new citizen science challenge running from May 1st through September 1st. Our goal is for kids to participate outside of school or class assignments and be active members of the Vital Signs community on their own.

We’ve observed that after going through investigations in class or at school that students carry VS skills with them. They’ve reported seeing and interacting with their local habitats in new ways and many mention finding or looking for their species of interest.

We want to find out if kids who have not gone through VS in class, or who are not prompted by their teachers to do VS, will contribute data and post observations. We are also excited to find out if this is something families do together.

This summer students and their families can contribute meaningful and valuable data, and by doing so win cool prizes like Amazon gift cards and an iPad mini!

To learn more, head on over to the Challenge page:

The contest runs from May 1st through September 1st.

Wow, this looks like SO much fun! I hope everybody goes out and tries to win the iPad mini! (Just think of all the awesome VS mobile uploads you could do with an iPad mini!) Yay Vital Signs!
