Eyes on the Water & Other Watershed-Relevant Activities for 2012

- If you live on or near Kezar Lake or are planning to visit this summer, or if you're looking to learn more about community watershed efforts, check out these events in the Kezar Lake watershed. Learn about native aquatic plants, and help monitor for the unwanted invasives.
- Thursday, June 21. 1:00- 7:00 PM Invasive Aquatic Plant Identification Workshop at the VFW Hall, corner of Smarts Hill Rd and Rt 93 in Lovell. Presented by experts at the Maine Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program (VLMP) and sponsored by the Lovell Invasive Plant Prevention Committee (LIPPC), this workshop is free of charge to the public, but pre-registration is required. - Saturday June 23. 9:00- 11:00 AM Eyes on the Water Plant Paddle. Launching our kayaks and canoes from Northeast Cove Road (off Timber Bay Shores—look for signs) in the Lower Bay, we will gather to practice our aquatic plant identification skills. - Wednesday July 11. 7:30 PM KLWA sponsored program at Charlotte Hobbs Library: Lakescaping with Native Plants for Water & Wildlife.
- Saturday, July 14. 9:30 AM KLWA Annual Membership Meeting at the Lovell United Church of Christ, 1174 Main St, Center Lovell. Social time with coffee & donuts will begin at 8:45.
- Saturday, July 21 Old Home Days. Visit our booth at Old Home Days!
- Monday July 23, 9-11 am Eyes on the Water Plant Paddle. For this informal on-the-water gathering, we will meet at Kezar Lake's Narrows to practice our aquatic plant identification skills. - Sunday, August 19. 2 – 4 PM Eyes on the Water Outing with an Expert. Horseshoe Pond. An aquatic plant expert will join us to explore the waters of Horseshoe Pond as we learn to identify common native (and hopefully no invasive!) aquatic plants. Bring kayaks, canoes and curiosity.
