Vital Signs connects a diverse community of students, teachers, professionals, and citizens to address questions of local and global concern. Our current focus is invasive species, a threat to biodiversity in Maine and around the globe.

Students and citizens are true research partners, contributing to the work of scientists, managers, and legislators alike. Expert-novice interactions encourage exploration, support quality data collection and analysis, and allow creative response to this critical issue.

Teachers use best practices in inquiry- and place-based instruction to transform students’ relationship with science. Students become critical and creative thinkers, problem-solvers, communicators, and playful collaborators as they engage with the Vital Signs community.

Big thanks to Petri!
