Anyone who knows anything about the GMRI Education Team knows that we welcome a good experiment. This one was just too good to pass up.

We used a free online video streaming site (UStream) to broadcast the August Teacher Institute's Species Expert Panel Q & A on Friday 8/20. At least 6 teachers from institutes past participated via online chat. At least 1 really liked it: "It was fantastic - fascinating and interesting."

You can watch the event here anytime: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/9042300

You'll see moderator Sarah Kirn, our teacher audience, and our smart panelists (from left to right):

Jonathan Grabowski, GMRI
Jeremy Miller, Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve
Curtis Bohlen, Casco Bay Estuary Partnership
Charlene Donahue, Maine Forest Service
Paul Gregory, Maine Department of Environmental Protection
Lois Stack, University of Maine Cooperative Extension

There's lots of great stuff in here - everything from what these scientists & managers were like as middle school students to the evolving "definition" of invasive species to the hottest species to look for.
