Ready, Set ,Science: Chapter 2
I really like viewing science education as science as practice. The ongoing and changing nature of science and our world seems to fit better with science as practice. I found the perspective of inquiry very interesting. " Focusing on practices also places inquiry in a broader context that can reveal when and why inquiry is effective." The idea of practice encompassing the strands is sensible to me. Making claims and then backing them up with evidence is one avenue my students and I have struggled with. Maybe it is because we have not had enough real data to work with as was mentioned in the first blog. I hope to integrate that better after this institute.
