The table lets you play with and control which species markers you see displayed on the map.
It often helps to start with a blank slate. Uncheck the boxes in the first yellow-ish row of the table labeled “Show ALL these species on the map." This clears the map of all markers.
a. Find a certain species. Scroll through the species list and check only the species you want to see on the map. If you only want to see “Not found" observations on the map, only check the box in the “Not found" column.
b. Sort the table. Click the gray column heading to sort the table by Found, Not Found, Species Number, or alphabetically by Species Name.
The list of Species Names can be further arranged by Common or Scientific Name using the radio buttons above the table.
c. No data yet. “No data yet" means just that. No one has added any “found" or “not found" observations of this species in the database…yet. You could be the first.
d. Species not listed in the table. While there are 200+ species currently accepted by the Vital Signs system, not all 200+ have been looked for….yet. If you do not see the species you are interested in on the map or in the table, it means that no one has added an observation for this species.
e. Too much data in the table. Narrow your search using the Advanced Search options. If you are only interested in that really great data that you collected, select “My data" from the pulldown list in the gray bar above the table.
