Field Notes

I am happy because we are learning about the intertidal zones and the species that live there. I see the seaweed on the rocks, I see the ocean and all the tidal pools. I see The different types of species that live in the intertidal zones. I hear the waves crash against the rocks. I hear the seagulls and the cars go by. I smell the salt water from the ocean. I am surprised that we found the Asian shore crab and Codium because they are invasive species to this intertidal zone. I am also a bit surprised we found the jonah crab because most of them had been wiped out by the green crabs. I am not surprised that we found the green crab because they are everywhere now. Questions that I had were about the tunicate that we found but we didn't know what species it was. A problem that we ran into was moving around on the slippery seaweed on the rocks. It was really difficult for the P.I.s to get around because they had to go back and forth.
