Field Notes
We found something that looked a lot like variable milfoil, but wasn't. It turned out to be very similar/identical to what we found at the other site on Highland Lake today. It deviated from variable milfoil in that the leaves were distally forked instead of feathered.
Supporting evidence
Consistent with variable milfoil, the leaf arrangement was whorled, the leaves were asymmetrical, and the colors and size were similar to our plastic sample and the pictures on the reference sheet.
However, the leaves were distally forked instead of feathered.

Field Notes and Supporting Evidence text is clear, very descriptive of observational process in a step by step sequence of meaningful captions.
Observation detail photo not in as sharp focus as it could be, but adequate in terms of seeing measurement of size.
Observation method photo is dynamic and captures the action of casting the weed weasel and the broad setting. However, the weed weasel itself does not appear in photo, which would have been preferable.
Biodiversity count seems very high given what appears in the photos of site. what evidence can be presented to support that count of 25 species?
It's good news that you think you did not find variable watermilfoil. Can you now identify what you did find and photograph based on your evidence?
