Field Notes
We found a cat-tail that we suspected to be a broad leaved. We were happy because we found what we were looking for and got to be outside of the classroom for the day. We heard nature and talking and smelt Fall leaves. We weren’t really surprised by any of our findings.
Supporting Evidence
Photo of my evidence.
The leaves were the necessary size and width. It was approximately 12 cm long, 2 cm wide. We weren’t sure until we measured it and it met the necessary requirements to be classified a Broad-Leaved cat-tail. It met the criteria of leaves 1-2 cm wide and 1.5-3 meters tall.
Photo of my evidence.
We believe it’s a broad leaved cat-tail due to the width of the leave itself. Also it was a healthy plant because it took a great deal of force to break the stem.
Photo of my evidence.
The cat-tail reproduces it’s seeds by letting them go into the wind to land somewhere else and grow, Some landed on my shoe (Picture Above) and the seeds look like that. If they had landed on a fertile stable ground, they’d begin to grow and look like a cat-tail. (See picture A)
