Explore the research question, "Does an invasive species impact biodiversity in my area?" with this full unit of study. Through this investigation, your students will develop understandings around interdependent relationships in ecosystems, skills in analyzing and interpreting data, and confidence in conducting authentic scientific research. They will explore the impact that invasive species have on biodiversity in local habitats while they collect and interpret real data and communicate their findings with a community of scientists. Field work resources Tutorial/ Template Vital Signs Data Entry Template - with extra quality check notes This is another VS data entry template that you can use a template in Google Docs before students go to the VS site to publish. After all students in a team have added their evidence, photos, etc. to this Google Doc, they can then post this information to the VS site. This allows for co-editing, quality check, and peer review without the temptation of posting before the observation is really ready. This template is slightly different from the other Vital Signs Data Entry Template because it has some extra notes about quality checking.

Field work resources Tutorial/ Template Vital Signs Data Entry Template In order to allow for all members of a VS team to edit simultaneously, many teachers use a data entry template in Google Docs. After all students in a team have added their evidence, photos, etc. to this Google Doc, they can then post this information to the VS site. This allows for co-editing, quality check, and peer review without the temptation of posting before the observation is really ready. Take a look at this great data observation template, provided by Sue Richman.
