What was happening when we where out there was some of the leaves were coming off. We were in the forest.

This was the closest thing we could find to a red maple.The color of the leaves was correct.

I liked everything about this, but the pictures. Maybe you could give a caption, saying how big it can get, or how much bigger it grows then that. But it was great

I agree that this is not red maple. It does appear to be red oak. The color is beautiful. A close up of a leaf is always very helpful.

Definitely looks like some kind of maple. Did you get any close ups the leaves? I think that would help the species expert.

I noticed that your tree is pretty small. Were there larger maples around it?
