Field Notes
I ventured to Mount Dessert Island on Saturday to hike some walking trails at the Indian Point Blagden Preserve. The day was warm and sunny, a bit breezy, with lots of balsam and salt water in the air. The paths were strew with pine needles -- and a small snake -- and then changed to grassy paths leading to Western Bay. The bay offered views of seals, water fowl, periwinkles, seagrass, and unfortunately some barberry bushes and rugosa rose bushes.
